Mac or PC for 2010 or 2011

I made the search here but the threads are from 5-10 years ago and I am not sure if the arguments made at that time still apply today..

I am making this thread not to start a flame war..but I want to know the advantages of either one..

I started with a PC in 1998-- back when it was $2500..top of the line specs at tha time...PC prices nowadays are more affordable.

Now, Dec 2010, a sibling of mine bought this Mac all in one computer with 27 inch LED monitor... for less than $2000.

the one with an i3 processor is $300 less

I thought wow.. I thought Mac computers are expensive..but looking at PC's albeit with only about 21 inches LCD.. for less than $1000. and less than specs than an apple computer(?)

having said that..

my question is are Apple computers/all in one desk tops better than PCs?
I like the 27 inch LED monitor..

currently I have a 17 inch HP lap top Hp Pavilion DV7-1245x

..obviously I just want a new computer for photo editing and some family movie editing..

is going Mac worth it?

I like the Mac because it is less cluttered..I haven;t checked the PC versions in person..

what do you guys think?

or should I just buy a 27 inch LED monitor(for $400) and hook it up to my lap top?
and save money..

for now..my wedding photo gig is at a stall..

( I am not a 100% pro where being a pro is defined as where I make my money from weddings-- I have a "day job" ..the wedding gigs are there just to financially supplement this "hobby"- check out my website if you want).

I just like taking photos and like looking at photos and family videos..
