Most people post here hate filters . A filter will degrade the IQ
The question is - will you ever see it ?
I seldom [ maybe 1 in 1000 ] print larger than 8 X 10 .

I have never had anyone say " that shot would have been better without a filter .

You have made up your mind already , since you bought the filter . Very good choice . [ B+W ] I just ordered another KSM and an 81A [ almost the same as a the UV you got ] - B+W and people think - I really don't know what - because I carry at least 2 KSM's , UV's and ND's . [If I like the 81A , I will buy another one . ]
A few facts -

Filters can sometimes cause flaring - ghosting - those effects are cut down or don't exist with hood
A filter is easier to replace than clean a lens .[ why I carry at least 2 ]
Most filters are cheaper to replace than lenses .

It is easier to get most effects from a filter than in post processing . CPL , ND , GND VND , STAR , BURST , MULTI IMAGE - to list a few I have - all CAN degrade IQ but I would be willing to bet 8 out of 10 people reading this have at least one . The benefits out weight the bad effects .

I have had rocks hit and chip a 2 filters , others have dropped their camera and filter shattered and messed up lens . Other have dropped camera and just bent lens filter threads .
Good luck
