I've been using the E520 since 2 1/2 years and like it very much.
I have a set of full scale images in my gallery if you want a look of what it has delivered for me.
The DR bothered me a bit in the beginning but I think I've just learned where to aim for metering a scene. I also shoot RAW (+JPEG) now for a little more processing leeway. I found myself bracketing most shots to the point that it was just more sensible to shoot raw.
My current settings:
auto-iso capped at 800
exposure bias +0.3EV
noise filter standard
This gives me a good JPEG. If I need it depending on the circumstances I'll fiddle a bit with the raw file. Make sure to check that gradation is set to normal, otherwise some high-iso shots will look horrible.
