Experienced Canon CLI-8 Cartridge Refill Guys – Question for ya…

I just bought an OCP Ink refill bottle for each of the 8 colors on my Canon Pro9000. I have the refill kit, chip resetter, tools, etc. Honestly, I am really tired of spending $17.99 per cartridge and I go the entire setup for slightly more than a set of 8 cartridges.
I bought all of this at R-JetTek and I really recommend them, they were wonderful but my question is to you all:
The instruction manual called for flushing the cartridges and to dry them before you insert the new ink. Is this really required? A lot of the tutorials I saw on YouTube and the Internet showed people adding the ink to the used cartridge right after they pulled it from the printer.
Do any of you guys do this, and if so, what’s really recommended by you guys who have been doing this for a while.
And finally, what’s your recommendation or the best method for recalibrating your color profiles to match the difference in the ink?
Thanks in advance.
