Sigma 70-300 OS with LAEA1

I've got a dilemma. I'd like to get the SEL18200 for an upcoming trip to Africa in a few weeks. The lens has been "out of stock" on all sites I've checked over the last several weeks. As time is of the essence, I'm looking at other telephoto options using the Sony LAEA1 adapter. Since I don't do tripods, I want in-lens stabilisation, which the Sony A-mount lenses don't have. As such, I'm thinking about a Sigma 70-300 OS (Sony mount) lens. Does anyone have experience with this? From digging through all the other threads, my expectation is that:

1. AF will work, but slowly and not terribly accurately.

2. Aperture selection will be okay

3. Auto magnification for manual focus - I have no idea

4. The lens' OS features should be fine.

All I could get from Sigma is "we cannot guarantee compatibility".

Any help is appreciated.
