Just out of curiosity: has anyone resolved the discrepancy between Panaonics' own, magnificent MTF curves for the 45/2, easily beating its own 14-45 at 45mm, and retaining sharpness almost completely until the edge of the frame, and the so-so DPR review? I can't seem to find any other "sophisticated" technical review of this lens.

It seems the same with user reviews - for every glowing ownership report there is one who finds the lens ho-hum. Is it a case of apples to oranges (say MTF-50 DPR vs MTF-40 and MTF-20 Panasonic), is it a case of manufacturing variability (as with the G1 rubber coating, mine is superb after 2 years of abuse in tropical climate, others' fell off after months), is it a case of different production locations (as apparently with the G1's out of Japan vs out of China), is it a case of expectations for a certain "look"...
