Is it common for Sony 70-300G to have back focus problem
Nov 30, 2010

I bought a Sony 70-300G from Sony Style store few weeks ago, lately l just noticed back focus problem. It's more obvious in 70-150 range, once over 200 range focus seems to be fine. I don't think it's my camera, as I just calibrated A700 AF sensor position, and tried it on my new A55, all other lenses are focused fine.

Today I exchanged another copy and found it still BF, a bit less severe though. I called Sony store, and was told their other copies might have the same issue, maybe that's how the lens is designed.

Likely I would be using 200-300 most of time with this lens, but having BF problem on $800 zoom lens doesn't feel right to me. If I get Sony to adjust 70-150 focus, would I have risk of 200-300 range out of focus?

Anyone here with 70-300G experienced similar problem? How did you resolve this issue? or should I just insist on another copy? or return it and wait for the new Tamron 70-300 USD?
