40D + 10-22 vs D5M2 and 17-40L
Nov 29, 2010

I have a 40D and a D5M2. Since buying the D5M2, I primarily use the 40D for landscapes. I use the D5M2 mostly for portraits, family pics, etc. Nothing commercial. My only ef-s lens is the Canon 10-22. My favorite lens is the 35L. Also have a Canon 50 f/1.4, 70-200 f/2.8 II, a 24-105 f/4 IS and a 400 f/5.6.

Am considering selling the 40D and 10-22 and purchasing a wide angle for the D5M2. Specifically thinking about the 17-40L, but I haven't ruled out WA primes. Probably wouldn't go for the 16-35 because I wouldn't need the f/2.8 for landscapes.

I'm wondering how the IQ of a 40D/ 10-22 combo would compare with a D5M2 + 17-40, when used for landscape and/or street photography. If I wouldn't notice much improvement, I may consider keeping the 40D/10-22, although I would prefer to only travel with one body, so I'm leaning towards selling the 40D/10-22.

Opinions appreciated. Thanks.
