Advice on how to prevent motion blur iwth baby photos (moving arms)
Nov 27, 2010

I'm looking for some advice with my D90, as I'm still learning how to get good shots and learning the settings, being new to DSLR. As most baby photos are indoors, I have a 35mm 1.8 lens and a 18-105 lens to use. I usually use Aperture priority to shoot, although Shutter priority may be the way to go with the baby moving her hands like crazy lately. At times where I don't have my SB-600 with me or if I do use shutter priority, I get a darker picture inside, due to the light level of course. Any suggestions or settings to use for babies would be greatly appreciated. Typical shutter speeds or any other settings some of you use or suggest, would be help. I attached a photo of some typical shots I get

my typical settings:

AF-Area mode
Incandescent (if indoors)
AF-A (not sure if, or to use AF-C)

usually Single shot, but sometimes (Burst shot to catch a smile) although not quite sure which to use between the H & L in burst mode.
