Your Hard Drive Will Crash
Nov 25, 2010

When you power up your computer and think that each time you do, a hard drive could fail, more people would not lose their only copies of their photos. A hard drive could fail at any time. It could last 10 minutes or 10 years, you just don't know.

Why take chances? Backup your photos to multiple drives. This is what I do.

In my computer, the C: drive is just for the Operating System and applications. I have two other drives, D: and E:, to store my photos. When I save photos on drive D:, I also copy them to the E: drive.

I also have a USB cradle hooked up to the computer. I can insert a hard drive into it for more backups. I have two other drives that I use for off site backup. This is done just in case my house burns down or someone breaks in and steals my computer.

You just never know.

A 1TB drive is less than $100 at today's prices. It should be a no brainer. Please, please, please back up your photos.
