D7000: Prg Auto, S & A - What's the difference?

Just got a D7000 and am trying to understand the following:

Programmed Auto mode allows one to make adjustments to the settings the camera chooses for proper exposure. Nikon calls this 'Flexible Program'. If the camera chooses say 125 @ f/8 and you need a faster shutter speed, you rotate the main command dial keeping an eye on the shutter speed indicator until the speed you want is displayed. The camera will adjust the aperture as the speed changes to maintain exposure. Likewise, if you need to adjust the aperture, keep an eye on that number while rotating the main command dial.

So, the question is, with flexible program mode, why would one choose to use shutter or aperture priority since they do the same thing?

Thanks for any insight you can offer.
