photographing babies - tips needed

Soon I'll do several paid baby photo sessions with my on-location equipment (umbrellas, reflectors, softboxes and strobes) and of course, I need some tips.
Babies will be up to 1 year old.
What are the must have shots that all parents want/crave for, that work for most babies? Something that stands out from the usual but should always be included in good photo-books?
Aside from low angle closeups, crawling, sleeping on the towel/bed, what other baby positions do you recommend to try?
I assume when doing baby portraits, usually the whole baby will be photographed, not just head/shoulders? Or not?
Candids, do they work or are just a bit of speed and luck, not something that is absolutely required for a good session?
Thanks!
