ESP Metering E-1 vs E-5
Nov 9, 2010

Hi:

I am trying to get used to the metering in my new E-5. With my E-1, I believe the 1st image below would have been exposed properly for the boy. The E-1's ESP metering is very similar to center weighted from my experience. With the E-5, ESP metering is different and the bright background strongly affected the way the boy was exposed even though he is a major part of the picture. How would you solve this? In the 2nd photo I used the built in flash as fill flash at -0.7. Without flash, would you use center weight metering in this situation or ESP + AF or would you use exposure compensation or something else. Thanks for any help. Kent
