Epson Pefection 2400 to V500 Replacement. Is it worth it?

I was considering replacing my Epson Perfection 2400 scanner with the V500. I am only scanning prints in low volume. The $150 question is will I perceive any improvements in the scan quality? The scanner resolution goes up from 2400 to 9600 but will that really matter with prints? How about CCFL versus LED? Will I see any added improvements using 3rd part software (Silverfast or Vuescan) with the new V500 over the 2400? Anyone "upgraded from a 2400 to the V500/V600?
