GF2 - the end of a short-lived era

The new GF2 has nothing that any enthusiast photographer would want. It has reduced control and added point and shoot ease of use. The GF1 was a breakthrough camera and many of us here wanted a GF2 with retained/improved control and improved image quality, hence the almost unanimous disapointment.

Panasonic have gone for the mass-market buck and who can blame them, they're in business to make a profit after all. This isn't Leica we're dealing with here, its a Japanese electronics firm who are interested in making what will sell the most.

To this end I think the rumours of a GP series are very unlikely and sounds like wishful thinking. I reckon the GH2 is the best (IQ-wise) we'll see for a while from panasonic, if I wanted a dinky camera with reasonable IQ and a flash I'd opt for an LX5.

I'll be buying a GH2 body to use with my Leica MF lenses.
