Of course it starts with more resolution, but it skips horizonal lines becuase it's the easiest way to scale the image down for the video output. Read any video-centric forum (such as dvxuser.com) and see all the talk about "line skipping" and how it relates to why videographers are excited about the GH-2, becuase it has actual detail due to not line skipping.
