Any news of replacement D700?

A couple of months ago there was the chance of purchasing a D700 with motordrive free. It was thought this was a sign that a new model was coming out and Nikon was offloading its D700 stock. The D7000 came out but since then....all quiet on the Western Front. Any ideas? The Fuji 7000 is reaching its limitations and the borrowed D3000 is not the full sandwich. : )
