Canon Lens for use in Pyramids

Hi,

I will be heading to Egypt in the new year, I have just bought a Canon 500D and require some information on the best lens to use.

In the pyramids and tombs you are not allowed to use the flash, So I need to buy a lens which works well in low light situations.

I was looking at the Canon EFS 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS Zoom, which is a very basic lens, but seems to get decent reviews for use in low light situations when you can't use a flash.

I have had a brief look around this forum and was unable to find my answer.
