new take on BIF with D7000
Oct 20, 2010

1) I am not a bird shooter

2) today, I went out and did some BIF in morning fog, basically seagulls, then eagle and heron in the p.m.

3) the AF is actually not all that bad, it does have some trouble against a busy BG, but most times it gets it fairly well

4) the graininess is a bigger issue, coming from D3. the blue sky has noise, the bird has noise, etc.

5) these are mostly severe crops, as it was done on NWR land, and the trail is not exactly where the birds are, and leaving the trail is anathema, probably lands you in the federal pen. Lens is 300mm 2.8 VR, 1.4 TC

6) the pics are cropped, level-adjusted, and a few (the more promising ones) I tried to clean up. all are from jpegs, standard setting with one notch of sharpening in-camera added.

7) if you hover the mouse over the pic, a panel slides out. then, click on the 'i' icon, and get info about the pic. the size will tell you how much it's cropped.
