What lens to use for sharp star shots?
Oct 17, 2010

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone can suggest anything pertaining to the title. Recently I was in Death Valley at night and experienced the most amazing stars. Clusters of stars and space dust visible to the naked eye!. At the time i had my Canon T2I and the canon 10-22mm on me. I was able to mount my camera on my tripod and I had a remote control to hold open the shutter. The shot came out ok, I was able to see the stars, the space dust but during the time I held it open, you can easily tell the stars moved and was slightly blurry. Should there be another type of lens I should try? Please advise. Also, my job enables me to borrow any Canon lens for 2 weeks so I'm really open for suggestions. Thanks in advance guys.
