Chromatic aberration in 60D
Oct 16, 2010

Received my new 60D with 18-135mm kit lens and started playing. Overall, very impressed with the camera, especially high ISO but that's a different subject. What did disappoint me was the amount of CA.

I've attached two 100% crops from one image. The first is a demanding high contrast scene, tree branches against a bright sky. CA is very strong, and is so at any point in the image where there is very strong contrast. The second is more subtle, look at the purple "haze" near the vertical columns. I looked at similar pictures at the same location take a day earlier with my Panny G1, no CA was visible.

Am I doing something wrong? Should I have shot with different parameters? Or does this camera/lens combo have that much CA?

Thanks,

== John
