Another Air Show Again
Oct 12, 2010

Ok a lot of images.

Well a few weeks ago I spent a few days at a air show. Well actually one at the air show and 1 out. The light was on the wrong side so the next day I spent it outside the air show on a little man made hillock. The where about 20 long lens guys there. I got there at 6AM and I was the third one there. We did have some problems about loitering and trespass with the local constabulary but we told them to partake in sex and travel and chase real criminals and they then decided that there where to many people with cameras around and left.

I took the obsolete E-30 and discontinued Bigma with me. There have been running skirmished on this forum about Olympus auto focus well I can tell you that the combo worked superbly( contrary to public belief ) and the only time I miss was either user error or I could not find the plane in the sky. And these things travel fast even the big jobs.

One problem you do experience is heat not only from the ground which causes waves but also form the engines. You get wonky straight lines. The other thing is prop blur you have to shoot at low ISO to get the slower speed to get prop blur or you freeze the prop. I was not always successful and got some movement blur shoots. I think I might experiment with ND filter (I don’t know if they will work)

There where planes for the US and other countries. The air field is to small for big stuff to land so the C5 had to stay at Cape Town International. The Stars of the show did not show as the fleet was ground due to a midair fatal explosion on one of the lightning’s 3 months ago. So no lightning’s , Buccaneers or hawkers. But the real star here was not a jet but the c217J wow what a plane.

Any way
I have divided them up into a few sections.
