EF 100 2.8 Macro, handheld?

Just curious, how many people use the Canon EF 100 2.8 Macro (Non-IS) handheld, and how does it fare in this regard (day and night). Also, how many have used it for portraits? Does it focus normally at longer distances? If you have samples that'd be awesome.
