sling bag for biking/photography
Oct 11, 2010

Having just moved to the Shonan beach area in Japan, I am thinking of combining biking and photography. For this I would like a bag that holds the following gear:

D700, either a 70-200 or a 70-180mm zoom, mid-range zoom, wide angle lenses (e.g. 16 mm f3.5 fisheye), SB800 flash, misc times, and personal use items.

At the same time, the bag needs to be convenient. By that I mean I can access the camera without getting off the bike, and putting down the bag to open the main compartment. I am thinking of the Kata3N1-33, because I can set it up to sling around when I want to get out the camera while on a ride. I also see they offer a 123-GO-30, but I do not fully understand the difference between the two bags.

My questions are:

Does anyone have any experience with the Kata bags used in this kind of activity?

Is the 3N1 series better than the 123 series?

Is there a better sling out there by a better company? (If you think so, can you explain why that is?)

I did a search, but did not find much on this topic.
