Sigma announcements and mysterious "Weight: TBD"

It always strikes me that the weight of newly announced Sigma products is not specified: it always says "TBD." Does this mean that new Sigma products are announced far before the actual production line is set up? Don't they even have a prototype with the same weight as the eventual product? Is Sigma lagging behind and trying to catch up by sending these early announcements to the world?

Don't get me wrong, I very much like Sigma products (I'm currently desparately awaiting the appearance - call it "materialization" - of the 85mm HSM) and I'm really impressed by their recent announcements (e.g., SD1). I was just wondering how you Sigma people can bear waiting so long all the time?

Cheers,

Pascal
