5D to SD15? Would I be nuts?
Oct 3, 2010

I sold my SD10+ DP1 + DP2 and switched to a Canon 5D classic (with 50mm f1.4 & 85mm f1.8) because while I was happy with the IQ of the SD10 I was frustrated by the performance and workflow of the SD10. And seduced by the idea of full frame.

I didn't go for an SD14 because it just seemed to flaky - judging by the forum comments.

I have now discovered that all in the Canon garden is not rosy (mush and the affordable lenses are rather so-so). Also the workflow benefits I thought would be there, haven't proved significant in practice.

I couldn't help it and bought a DP1s recently (welcome back old friend).

I shoot people & things - not sports or landscape.

So now I am contemplating switching back to an SD15 with the 35mm & 50mm primes and then going for the SD1 when it come out. The big question for me is whether the SD15 has an acceptable frame-rate and buffer after the 5D. There's nobody near me who stocks Sigma so I can't go and try one. The specs say it should be okay but how is it in the real world?

What do you think? Would I be nuts?

Sorry for the lengthy post and many thanks for any advice.
