Focus Point Accuracy - Nikon's Specs?
Sep 30, 2010

AFAIK all of Nikon's focus points are sensitive at f5.6.

Some of Canon's focus points are f2.8 sensitive. Canon states that if an f2.8 lens is used, the lens will focus with an accuracy of 1/3 x DOF at f2.8.

Some of Canon's focus points are f5.6 sensitive. Canon states that if an f5.6 or faster lens is used, the lens will focus with an accuracy of 1 x DOF at f5.6

On a Nikon I think I'm right in saying that whether you use an f5.6 lens or an f1.4 lens it will always focus with an accuracy at f5.6. What are Nikon's specification for this (ie ? x DOF at f5.6)? I don't understand how Nikons' can get critical focus at f1.4 if their focus points are f5.6 sensitive.
