Confused about 30" Cinemadisplay for photo editing

Back in 2006, I bought a MacPro with two 30" Cinemadisplays. They're great
This summer I added a 27" iMac i7 and the screen is just gorgeous and I now find the 30" displays to be pale and ....... hmmmmm
Am I being fooled by the "hot" and shiny 27" display or is the 30" really on the way to retirement ?
