Kauai, open door helicopter flight-- gear question
Sep 25, 2010
|
I will be going to Kauai in a few weeks and taking a "no door" helicopter flight over the island. I plan on using my Pentax K-x with a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 lens.
My first thought, and following conventional wisdom, would be to use a circular polarizer. Although I will not have glass reflections to deal with, the CP could cut haze and increase contrast, especially in the foliage. I have seen some advice to the use of a CP for the no doors heli flight.
I have also seen advice (from a site on the web with rather awesome aerial photos of Kauai) suggesting not to use a CP or lens hood. The hood for issues pertaining to wind and the CP because of concerns for losing light and the fact that you don't have much time to snap off quick shots.
So, the question is, circular polarizer or no CP?
I would love to hear from those that might have done one of these no door helicopter flights.
Thanks!
