Second Amazon DP1s--new problem
Sep 23, 2010
|
I bought a second DP1s from Amazon, which arrived the other day and it exibits a color cast quite different in the photos than my first one, also bought from Amazon.
All photos show a strong magenta cast in the upper left and right corners, seemingly in proportion to light fall off. The cast is more evident at f5, less at f8, but noticeable in all variables I tried. The lower right and left margins of the photos hint toward greenish. This all from RAW files developed in SPP 3.3, 4.0 and 4.1.
The very first photos I shot with this second DP1s showed strong, wide, multiple green bands crossing the upper half of horizontal images with hints of magenta outside of them--suggesting some electronic problem. I had shot these images with a nearly exhausted battery from my other DP1s and a SD card straight from the other DP1s. I partially charged the battery, formatted the card specifically to the new DP1s--and the green bands went away.
Oddly, the product box for this second Amazon DP1s shows a printed seal on top stating Authorized Dealer, while the box of the first DP1s from Amazon did not.
My first DP1s just tents toward greensih in all corners and margins. I was expecting some consistency. If this magenta issue isn't something I'm doing, I intend to return it.
