X100 too large, ultimately pointless

X100 too large, ultimately pointless

X100 looks attractive, but let's compare sizes:

X100 127 × 75 × 54 mm

Panasonic GF1 119 x 71 x 36 mm (there's also a 35mm pancake lens that's 22 mm long)
Sony nex5 111 x 60 x 40mm (
24 pancake lens is 22 mm long)
Leica X1 124 x 60 x 32mm
Stylus Epic 108 x 59 x 37mm

So, what's the point? If you can get a 4/3rds camera that's smaller and has interchangeable lenses, why would you want the X100? With no image stabilization or interchangeable lenses? Because it looks like an old rangefinder?

Of course we'll have to see pricing, but I'll make a few guesses:

1) It will cost more than m43rds or Sony EVIL
2) A smaller m43rds camera than the GF1 will come out in the meantime
3) Sony or Nikon will come up with an EVIL system, that may be smaller still.
