Yes, it's not correct. Only the two plate (top and rear) are metal.

It's deceptive to consider the exteriors of Nikons because while much of the trim at the front is either rubber or plastic, it mounts to metal chassis just beneath. The D7000 appears to have the same construction.

and finally, what you see below is plastic with "top and bottom plates" metal, right?

Correct, as the photo shows, only the top and rear plates are metal. The rest is plastic.
