I know that, and I didn't mean anyone to assume I was saying otherwise. I was just saying the pic was a weird choice due to banding for whatever reason the banding occurred... I would never attribute banding to a lens optically, though if it were very electrically flawed that might cause it; but I was not suggesting that in this case.

Looking at the pic it seems like the shadows have been lifted a bit too much.

Ya, that could do it, but it is not a prerequisite. Banding can show in any image at the right ISOs when the tonal values fall into the right range for it.
