Old Body Question: Why Does D40x & D60 Sell for More Than D80?

I know all of the hoopla right now regards the soon to be announced D7000, which is totally understandable & expected. However, if I may, a question regarding old bodies.
I've been shopping for a backup "beater" body and have pondered re-acquiring a D40x or D60, but haven't seen many for sale. When I have, one perplexing thing I've noticed--I've found that they often-times sell for MORE than a Nikon D80.
I seriously don't get that. Quirky meter aside, the D80 has the same sensor & is seriously more equipped than either the D40x or D60. The much larger viewfinder, 11 AF points and non AF-S lens compatibility are especially huge advantages. Let's not forget the wireless i-TTL, 2 command dials, hot buttons galore and much greater customizability.
Even with the D80's quirky meter, this seriously makes no sense to me. I'm not griping, after all, if (say) someone wants to sell a D300 for less than a D90, I wouldn't complain, I'd go for it. But that said, it makes me feel inclined to ask--what's up?
