Are the lenses for digital cameras really slow?

Long time ago, on my film camera, I used a 50mm F1.7, 80-130mm F2.8-3.5, 28-200mm F3.5-4.5 lenses. They were considered slow, but OK for amatures. For professionals there were much faster lenses, like 50mm F1.4 (even F1.2) or zoom lenses starting at F2.0. On digital cameras, even the expensive Micro 3/4 zoom lenses, start at F4 (for example, Olimpus 9-18mm F4-5.6 or 14-150mm F4-5.6). Does it mean that the new lenses are slow compared to what we used on the film cameras?
