18-200 or 70-200 for travel?

Soon I will make a tourist trip for a few weeks to a country where I have never been before, and I may never go back, as it is out of the way from where I live. I want to travel as light as possible, but at the same time, I would hate to lose good photo opportunities due to bad gear.

I will probably take a D5000 and a 35mm prime lens. The question is which zoom lens I should take, my 18-200 or my 70-200?

The 18-200 is much lighter (560g vs 1470g), and it has a wider zoom range. On the other hand, it... well, it is not the 70-200.

I realise the decision in the end only is mine, judging how important weight is versus quality. Still, I would appreciate some opinions from other people. Am I completely crazy if I choose lens A instead of lens B, or am I insane if I go for lens B instead of lens A?
