LX5 - OK, What Caused This Very Weird Effect?
Sep 8, 2010

I was in my car, bored and waiting for my granddaughter to come out of the movie theater. I had my new LX5 camera with me and decided to play around with it. I shot a few photos of the GPS unit on my car dash and this was the end result.

I am not sure what created this weird, lighting-like effect, but it's very strange indeed. The "lightning" appears to follow the outline of the tree tops in the background. It was about 1844/6:44 pm, EDST and the car was facing away from the setting sun.

I actually like the image, but am at a loss to explain how it happened.

Macro lens setting. ISO 125. 35mm equivalent focal length of 55mm. Standard color film mode.
