A question on the 400mm f/5.6 L USM lens
Aug 31, 2010

This is rated perhaps the best lens for BIF (birds in flight). I have read and know that it doesn't have IS but AF is focus and have seen the results to be excellent. Most birding forums heap high praise on this lens. I don't own one, but plan to soon.

Besides birding, how does this lens fare generally w.r.to wildlife? Is the lack of Image Stabilization a hampering factor when it comes to shooting other animals. Can you please share pics and results. All advice is welcome

I do a quite a bit of wildlife safaris and am planning to invest in Canon beginning with this lens as I find it quite a nice value for money lens.
