D-LUX 4 vs Panasonic LX3/LX5
Aug 30, 2010

I have never owned a Leica before, so please excuse me if I'm being completely ignorant. What would you Leica owners have to say are the reasons for buying a D-LUX 4 over a much less expensive Panasonic LX3 or LX5? It seems that they have the same sensor, similar lens, and basically the same set of features. I'm not sure if the D-LUX goes through more quality control than the LX, but even if it does, I'm not sure how it would justify the price tag. Again, maybe there is some answer that is blatantly obvious to a Leica owner and I just wouldn't know about it. Could any of you Leica people enlighten me?
Note: I love the idea of owning a Leica. They are the type of cameras I lust over, but I feel as though I should come up with some more solid reasons for buying one than just, "It's a Leica, it's German, and therefore it's awesome."
