CF card for 200+ jpg continuous shooting with 7D.
Aug 20, 2010

I am planing to use my 7d to take microscope shots. This will require staking hundreds of pictures to get one with reasonable depth of focus.

My intention is to take them using 8 pictures per second jpg, but can it be done without filling the buffer?

In theory it should require a card that handles about 64mb/s but I think most of the pictures will be almost completly out of focus and should be rather smaller than the usual 8mb.

I could play safe and buy a sandisk 90mb/s but they are expensive. The 7d review claimed it will do the job, but my budget is tight.

Has anybody any experience in ultralong continuous shooting in jpg? I would be greatful for any info on what CF cards work or don't work, or other problems I haven't concidered.
