What's the point of having video?
Aug 16, 2010

I've been playing with the video function on my K-x.

Fun though it's been, I'm really wondering what the point of having it on a camera is.

I suppose that being able to record in a form that can be transferred by email or posted to the internet is a big plus, although the size of the files is a limiting factor for someone who doesn't have fast broadband.

I've been using Freemake Video Converter to reduce file sizes, but even using the lowest settings on the K-x and converting at 'mobile quality' in Freemake, a short clip ends up at over 6MB.

I would be interested in hearing from anyone who's a serious user of camera video mode, and why they're using it.

My own thoughts are that if one wants to take movies, it would be better to have a movie camera.
