canon 28-135mm f/3.5 IS for T2i??

Hi,

I was going to get Canon lens 28-135mm f/3.5 - 5.6 IS for my T2i , but the sales associate in a camera store said it woudn't work properly, and suggested to get 18-135 mm IS, f/3.5 -5.6 Canon.

I wonder why I can't use the 28-135 with T2i. The reviews on 18-135 was't as good as for the first one, so I wasn't interested on that. It seems like the same as kit just longer zoom. I wan t something better. 15-85mm is a good lens but with some bad sides like distortion, vinieting, plus too pricey.

Maybe there are other solutions for all around telephoto-macro lens not longer than 200 (to avoid heavy weight) .
