AF/MF on GF1

Quick question re: GF1.
Is there a way to invoke MF assist if AF has previously been selected and I've mounted a legacy lens?? Currently I need to remember selecting AF before mounting a legacy lens since pressing the AF/MF button with a legacy lens doesn't do anything.....
