mixing calibration manufacturers
Aug 3, 2010
I have a 5 year old Gretag Eye One Display 2. Seems to work well enough. Now I'm jumping into the realm of large format inkjet printing (looking at the 3880) and I'll need a printer profiler. Looking around, the Spyder3 seems the right choice for me (though I'm still open to suggestions). The question is, do I need to shell out 600 bucks for the set (Spyder3 Studio), or can I just get the Spyder3 Print photospectrometer for half that and keep using my Eye One for monitor calibration? I can't seem to find a photospectrometer that matches the Eye One (meaning I have no idea who actually makes the darn thing anymore- Gretag, X-rite, and I even saw it rebranded LaCie = annoying).
To sum up: is there any need to keep with the same line with these devices, or are they independent enough to mix?
