Buying a 7D today, body only or kit?
Jul 29, 2010

The title says it all. I'm buying a Canon 7D today. Do I just buy the body? I have a Tamron AF 28-75mm f/2.8 SP XR ZL Di LD as a general walk around lense on my Canon Xti. I have 2 other kit lenses that came with the Xti and they're going by by with the Xti (strategic manuvering will allow me to upgrade) The plan is to use the Tamron and buy better glass for outdoor photography in a few months.

Would I be making a mistake getting the body only? The Tamron doesn't have vibration compensation. But the Tamron is f/2.8 and does a really nice job in low light. The kit lense is f/3.5 is an IS lense. Personally I don't think missing out on the IS will be that big of a deal for now.

For my new glass I would like something with some reach and IS would be something I would want.

So...get the 7D with kit lense and ditch the Tamron or buy the body only use it. LOL either way I'm getting a better zoom.
