Are MemorySticks generally VERY slow?
Jul 25, 2010

I keep a MemoryStick in my camera for back-up (either when I have no extra CF or if it would take too long to change), but it frustrates me that writing times are not just significantly longer than those of CF, but quite frankly unacceptable.

Having had a Dynax 7D and knowing how much a simple firmware upgrade can do for transfer speed, it's rather disappointing that Sony's own format performs worse on their own cameras than CF cards did on the 7D before the upgrade.

Right now I have a Lexar 8 GB MS, but results are no better with a Sandisk 4 GB Extreme III.

I may have been cheap in my choice of MS, but is there any truly fast product out there, or is the camera to blame?
