Today I was looking up a photo of a drosera in the hopes of differentiating between varieties. No photo of drosera, but the plate next to it was instantly recognisable as the mystery plant - Dryas octopetala . Once you know what it is it's easy to find.

So it wasn't an anenome as I had suggested. It wasn't even an anemone (why do I always mis-spell that )
