G1: Which RAW software extracts most detail

Having recently bought a G1 and admired its jpeg output. I would now like to extract some finer detail from the more delicate parts of the images I take - feathers, wing scales on butterflies, etc.

In the past my favourite has been Capture One4, but neither this or CS2, work with the G1 files.

The supplied Silkypix is okay but, and its a big but, I don'r believe this is extracting as much detail as I think should be there. (comparing silkypix to Caprure One4 has proved this in the past)

However, buying new software will be a really expensive thing to do, so I would like to get it right first time.

Can anyone offer advice on this subject please.
