I venture a guess that the latest medium format digitals would rival the ole 4x5's.

Has anyone compared the latest FF DSLR's to the Hasselblad H3DII-39?

The 39mp Hassey is about the same as 4x5 out to about 24x30, and sometimes 32x40. Beyond that, the film still wins in tonality and detail. Of course, there's also the issue of having movements available on the 4x5, not to mention far better DOF control.

For me, 40mp is about enough. I rarely print beyond 40".

The 39MP H3D's sensor is 50% bigger than any "FF" DSLR and, it has bigger pixels than the 5DMkII. Agreeably pricey, I suspect the prints would be visibly more impressive than any FF DSLR.

The newest H4d with the smaller 40MP Kodak sensor should be impressive too.

A good question.

The solution is always simple. Getting there is the hard part.

Thanks. My friend and I have joked that if we ever won a lottery we would fly to Sweden and buy our units hot of the production line

If I ever won the lottery, I would buy a point and shoot to take on the beach and let you lot worry about pixels and resolution.

Kevin.
