The Nikon update we really need

Okay, I'm going to go on a limb here and say it: we don't need new bodies.

I'm sure some can make a case as to why they need more MP for their super-duper-detailed landscapes that will be draped across a football field or lower noise at high ISO so we can make photo(???)graphs in the complete absence of light.

You won't convince me. As much as I love the new plastic fragrance and the never-been-touched virginic feel of a new body, fact is, the two bodies I already have (D300 and D700) are tremendous image-capturing wonders.

Nikon does, however, need to make some improvements to the equipment we attach to these outstanding bods. If you agree with me, what equipment would you say Nikon needs to update to improve our photo-taking experience?

It's easy to argue about equipment and technique, but hard to argue with a good photograph -- and more difficult to capture one .
